A River Bend Birthday Party is a wonderful gift for any child that enjoys spending times outdoors. Our weekend staff provides a nature activity of your choice for the birthday boy or girl and friends. We offer several Birthday Party themes.

Our Birthday Parties are typically two or three hours in length, depending on which activity you choose. We have a refrigerator, freezer and microwave for your use. We also have ceramic plates, silverware, glasses and cloth napkins available at no extra charge.

Birthday Party Options:

Animal Tracks

(4-10 yrs.) $70.00/$80.00

Every party goer makes a plaster cast of an animal track to keep, and then it’s into the woods in search of tracks, homes, and other evidence of our woodland and wetland friends.

Scavenger Hunt

(4-10 yrs) $70.00/$80.00

The list varies with the season, but it’s fun year round to go and look for some of nature’s hidden treasures. We may even go places most people never go! Children are given cards with various wonders of nature to look for out on a hike.

Nature Creations

(4 yrs.-up) $70.00/$80.00

Draw on nature for your artistic inspiration. After a short hike to collect materials, create a craft such as a natural painting, a collage or a picture frame to take home with you. Projects vary with the season and age group.

Canoeing

(10 yrs-up) $100.00/$110.00  

Spend two hours paddling the gentle waters of the Root River in search of  turtles, heron, and other wildlife. We provide all equipment, instruction, and a naturalist guide. A minimum of two adults must accompany this party.

Pondering Ponds

(6-12 yrs) $70.00/$80.00

Using dipping nets, party goers will look for critters in the water and mud at the edge of the pond. They will learn about the critters the found and be able to identify underwater life. PARTICIPANTS WILL GET MUDDY!

Science Mania

Explore the fun side of science as we make slime, create volcanic eruptions, launch film canister rockets and more! Experiments range depending on age, weather, group size and availability.

Recycled Art

(6 yrs.-up) $70.00/$80.00

Reuse recycled materials to create works of art; convert every day rubbish into animals, birds, and more. Art supplies provided. (All materials will be sanitized and free of food waste.)

Diggin’ Dirt

Get down and dirty and discover the amazing life of soil.  Explore hands on the bugs and slugs that live here at River Bend.  We will find out where new dirt comes from and search through the worm bin.

Winter Smash

Enjoy River Bend’s silent season on cross country skis, conditions permitting. If we can’t ski, we’ll explore, learn about winter survival, play in the snow, and track animals. After the adventure, it’s hot chocolate for everyone!

Team Building Course

Put your teamwork skills to the test crawling through the “Spider Web”, balancing on the “Whale Watch”, or racing the “Caterpillars.” Cooperation, communication, and trust are all needed on this outdoor adventure!

River Bend Sleep-Over

Times are set when your sleepover is scheduled.       

Enjoy a unique all-night adventure in either our River Bend lodge or in E.M.’s Cabin. Call for more details!

Registration Details:

• The first fee listed is for Friends of River Bend and YWCA members. The second fee is for nonmembers.
• The time frame listed for each party includes use of a room in the nature center for one hour for presents, cake and ice cream, etc.
• Please contact us at least two weeks in advance so appropriate staffing can be arranged.
